Full disclosure: I had two bouquets!

One bouquet for the first look, which was more fun and bright…

And a more traditional bouquet for the ceremony and evening.

Also, I did not do a bouquet toss. Instead I handed my bouquet to my best friend, so she knew how special she is to me (and how I can’t wait to be there for her when she gets married!!). Due to the small number of guests, we really couldn’t justify more than a maid of honour and best man – My sister was my maid of honour and Mr. J with 2 brothers, chose his best mate. Of course I appreciated my sister being there for all the important stuff, but I missed my bestie too – So I hoped it was a way for her to realise how I did want her to be a part of my day – and yep, there were tears!

My bouquet was really important to me, as it had my something blue – a wishbone that my mother carried down the aisle on her wedding day, over 40 years ago :)

My florist Rachel at Red Lily Floral Design was fantastic. Amazing. I knew nothing about flowers, brought in a couple of pictures for her to look at, and named one flower that I loved (ranunculas). And BOOM. Sorted.

She made me feel completely at ease and I just let her go with it. She took the limited inspiration I had, and knew exactly what style I was going for. This extended to the table decorations too. And scattered petals… It isn’t a wedding without petals, right?! Also, she arranged the fresh flowers on the cake – which was also, simply gorgeous. Thanks to Heidi’s Dream Cakes it looked perfect, and tasted AMAZING. Believe me – her banana cake is just to die for – and such an unexpected surprise for guests.

After spending Christmas with my family, we are finally home.  We had an amazing holiday, cruising around New Zealand and back to Australia.  Very relaxing, and very indulgent.  And of course Christmas was no end to the indulgence(!)

Feels as though I have been away for weeks, and in fact, it has almost been a month!  Although fantastic to be home, and to sleep in my own bed, the thought of the approaching New Year is a bit on the scary side.  It has been a month of limited exercise, and rich food, and of course a little festive weight gain.  Everyone loves a fresh start, but it can be daunting – the New Year lists, the expectations, the pressure to finally make those resolutions – Yes, this year will be MY year  ;)   Said time, and time again.

This coming year I do have some very serious goals and life events ahead.  Very importantly, 2012, the year of our wedding.  Goals of a dream job, wait… do I have to job hunt first? ;)   Goals around health and fitness … health for life, body for ‘the dress’ ;)   And goals relating to happiness … sounds silly, but yeah ;)

This year will be a busy one, but exciting.

I will tell all, soon  ;)   And I hope to re-cap some of our holiday (before reality sets in!).

I should be excited, – I finally got my hair cut tonight.  But, somehow(!) I came out of it with …  a fringe!  :’(

I’ve never had a fringe in my life!  My hairdresser never uttered the word “fringe”.  She was trimming the layers around my face, and then BAM.  Hello … wtf is that over my eyes.

I have the type of hair that requires blow drying before being seen in public.  And with medium-long hair I can be more lazy blowdry, than just came out of a salon awesome blowdry.

But I guess that won’t be the case anymore  :(

Even the thought of having to pin it back to work out is worrying me.  And more to that point, how can I go from sweaty workout with pinned fringe, to a fringe with no kinks without washing it?  I cannot wash my hair every day, I do not have the *time*

I guess hair grows right?  Yeah, that’s a relief.

Typically, Monday’s are not particularly productive for me.  Something about being in denial about *still* being a university student?  Or perhaps wanting to stay in weekend-mode and ignore all of the work I have to do?  (which isn’t a case of ignorance is bliss by the way!).  Or maybe, I am just la-zy!  ;)

I think it is definitely compounded by the fact that I usually, well-  always, work from home Monday.  And working from home = poor working environment, to say the least(!)

Somehow I have managed to get through five and half years of university without a desk, or even an appropriate chair.  I worked from my bed on student residences, on various sofas when I moved into sharing, but it is official – we now have an ergonomical office chair(!)  – Just in time for our move into our own place :)   And so, in an attempt to be all profesh about the end of my masters degree (and get used to working from a makeshift desk), I have been setting myself up at the dining table with said chair.  But I am still using my trusty laptop, which means I have been hunching over all day, I cannot get the height right!

That, along with yoga yesterday, is making my back/shoulders/neck scream at me.  Ouchy, it burns!  Even my obliques are narky.  And I’m trying my best to ignore the fact that my butt and thighs are still sore after Saturday’s walk.  So I have quite literally sat on my butt all day today, and I cannot face going to the gym, nor doing any type of exercise really.  My body needs some repair/rest time.

Which is fine, but I really want to make a difference this month in terms of weight loss.  So that means no detours from healthy eating, and keeping my intake on the low side, to ensure a calorie deficit.  Today I really struggled with snacking, the snack monster was all consuming!  It was easier this morning, a small apple, but this afternoon, I wanted carbs.  I had another apple, and a fibre bar.  But it just wouldn’t do.  So I made one of my monster teas, which helped.

And now, before it’s time to make dinner, I shall procrastinate some more, with another suprise in the mail > Hello August Marie Claire mag  :)

This week has been a tad hectic, which I definitely was not ready for, especially following last week (interview etc).  I need a breather, like, now!  But I will compose myself because the good news is that tomorrow is Friday.  So one more day, and then I get a breather, well a ‘packer’… Ha!

Yes, Mr. J and I need to start the arduous task of sorting out all of our shit!  -I mean, possessions.  I really don’t want to take anything unnecessarywith us when we move.  It will be nice to have a clean slate, and start to build a place that is really ‘ours’.  Not just me, ‘stayin over’, with free rent ;)

I came home to a nice home-related surprise though.  Ony good things come out of Amazon boxes!

Hello JosephJoseph ‘Elevate’ Utensil Carousel!  You will be a nice addition to the kitchen bench in our new place!

Beautifying

Source

Spent this morning getting beautified at Quintessence before heading to Sydney for the long weekend.  Best!  Oh wait, I still need to pack!

I have been loyal to the ladies at Quintessence for about 3 years, and have never been disappointed.  Perfect, impeccable service every time.  If you need a beautician in Canberra, check them out here.

I am struggle street this morning.  Mr J was up at 4am for work, and I could not get back to sleep :(   Definitely going to need an iced coffee on the way.

Hi!

I have wanted to start my own blog for a long time (especially after reading so many fabulous food&fitness blogs out there).     BUT I kept saying (to myself and others) “after masters” … “when life starts after uni” … “when I am done with this” … and so on.

And so I waited, but uni continues, and so many exciting things are happening that I want to blog about!

So I hope to document (and hopefully entertain ) with the details.

Watch this space!   More posts to come shortly.
