Oops where has April disappeared to?  Following Easter I held strong with my 12WBT exercise, especially the Super Saturday Sessions (SSS).  This past weekend however, life got in the way, and I actually missed it!  Now, I don’t think I really missed the ‘during’, but the ‘after’ and the sense of accomplishment! ;)

A couple of weeks ago I did a 13.6km SSS, kinda by accident.  I wasn’t really feeling it, but I thought I would head out with Mr. J and aim for 5km.  Well, when I finally decided to turn back, we had passed the 6.5km mark!  I actually got a little sun burnt, because I did not expect to be out for so long.  Yes, by the end and almost 2 and a half hours later, I was totally over it, but hey it was awesome!  And of course, I wasn’t complaining with the calorie burn:

The following weekend, unfortunately I was feeling the same – just a bit off, and a bit over it.  But what does MB say?  JFDI.  So off we went to Hackett walking tracks, and decided to see where the road took us.

Well,… it took us up Mt Ainslie – a first for me :)

MtAinslieMapA pretty easy walk, other than the elevation!

MtAinslieElevationIsn’t it pretty? ;)   Haha…
According to Runkeeper, it was a personal best for elevation -

Mt Ainslie – definitely recommended.  Get out there and feel the burn ;) :) and check out the lovely views

I might have been quiet in the blogging world of late, [although, I am quietly obsessed with Instagram], I certainly haven’t been neglecting my need for exercise.  Mr. J has been a strong support, getting me out of the house for long walks, with jogs intermittently throughout – depending on how we feel that day.  Long cardio sessions, simple, but seriously effective.  And(!) maintainable.  I have to admit that the more hardcore workout routines I have attempted in the past – I haven’t sustained; well not for long that’s for sure.

So thanks to runkeeper, here are my ‘walks’ for July.

Add in some Zumba to the mix, and that has been my workout ‘approach’ for this month.

The past week and a half I was travelling for wedding related tasks, and a professional development course; and now Mr. J is away for work – So I have had a bit of a break, but I am ready to get back into it asap!  Zumba tonight(!)

I am a little off schedule after my four day break.  Yesterday I had planned to do Plyometrics and a weights component later.  But Plyo (o-m-g!), is crazy and I am still sore this morning.  Today Cardio is on the agenda, followed by Back, Biceps and Abs.  Not quite sure if I will have time to fit it all in before road tripping to Sydney this afternoon.

I am heading home for my birthday :)   so another break…  Although there will be birthday cake, I will be taking it easy ;)

Looking at my exercise log, I knew that I had stopped logging my food for a while – but I realised that it has been two weeks :(   Which I think is a major element of this weight loss business for me.  80% nutrition, 20% exercise.  Not sure how many times I need to keep telling myself this(!)

Monday, I will officially be under the two week mark for New Zealand.  Time to get back to 1200 calories.  For the first eight days, I want to 100% strictly follow the p90x doubles routine – focusing on continuing to build muscle, while maintaining cardio.  Then, the last four days before flying out, will be 100% cardio.  Yep, going to get running again  :S  It’s been a while.

I am hoping with a couple of days practice, I will be happy to treadmill it while cruising.  I will be satisfied with a gym session on six out of our 12 days  :)

Excitement!  Ok, I need to put my shoes on and do some exercise!

And so it has begun.  p90x doubles, cra-zy, but hopefully the push that my body needs.

I started classic doubles today, cardio x to start.  Not sure where I read it, but I remember being advised abotu p90x to complete any cardio before breakfast.  So, that’s what I did :)   After drying off, breakfast was the usual.  After a couple of hours, it was time for chest, shoulders and triceps, followed by ab ripper x.  I was definitely ready to eat by then,  so I made a green monster smoothie (half banana, baby spinach, milk, ice, low carb protein powder).

I think this sort of schedule would be pretty difficult to maintain while working.  45 minutes cardio, 60 minutes weights, then 15 minutes abs.  I also think it is going to be difficult to manage the hunger/cravings.  Yes, of course I need to eat enough, but it is a fine line between eating more, and eating too much.

I love the fact that now I  have moved into Phase 2, the program has changed.  Also, because I was doing the Lean version in Phase 1, I am also excited to see what Plyometrics is like.

And I can’t wait to see more changes in my body.  I can definitely see some definition in my back now, and my arms and legs have a slight definition.   Now just need to see my tummy going down too!  .6% body fat down in 3 weeks, bring on the next 3 weeks!

Started the weekend with Kenpo X…  I don’t love the karate-type moves, but I tell you, if you do it properly, it’s a great cardio workout without leaving the comfort of your loungeroom.  Or for me, the spare room (with laptop set up)  ;)

After Kenpo, it was a bit of a mad dash to get ready for a wedding.  It was ceremony only, so I wasn’t that fussed about getting all dolled up for about 45 minutes, plus travel time.  It was a beautiful day for it, and so I wore a summer dress and flats.  Full face of makeup for about an hours travel time, plus an hour at the ceremony – probably not worth it ;)   Plus, I blow dried my hair for the first time in over a month!  Ah it was heaven.

I picked up a girlfriend who was also just attending the ceremony, and so as not to waste our efforts, we went out for coffee afterwards.  Well coffee was the plan, but it was such a nice day we got a Boost and found a quiet spot in the sun to chill.

I came home to find Mr. J working hard, doing washing, preparing dinner,  he is so good to me.  After a hectic week (quick trip to Sydney) I was pretty exhausted so happy to have a relaxed Saturday night  :)

Sunday I was up early to help my sister find a dress.  I didn’t want it to drag on all day ;)   so we smashed through Diana Ferrari and Jaqui before finding a great maxi for her in Myer.

I loved this though – so cute.  I made my sister try it, but it’s more suited to me than her.  Diana Ferrari spotty dress! After a successful, if slightly frantic shop, I met Mr. J for a milkshake.  It was such a nice day again, we languished ;) in the sun, chatting.  Then it was time to head home and hit the spare room.  Over the last couple of months it has slowly grown and got messier and messier.  With my girlfriend staying next weekend – I wanted it sorted.  A couple of hours later, only our suitcases don’t have a home, but they stack neatly.

After that, I was tired…  It’s so typical, as soon as there’s time to relax etc, I get rundown and sickly.  No sickness so far, just tiiiiiredness!  So I chilled on the couch watching a movie while Mr. J made lemon sorbet.  Yum.

It is Mr. Js birthday today(!)  We are heading out tonight for Steak, but only the best steak in Canberra – Kingsley’s Steakhouse.  I will try my very best to take pictures, even though I am iphoneless at the moment (10 more days max!!!!).  Expect to see a birthday/Kingsleys/night off post with pictures for once!

It will be nice to take the night off to just relax, well as much as I can relax right now  ;)

About today, I hit a little bump, or a setback… thesis is still coming along, just a bit slower than I would like.  Just small edits that take way too long(!)  Anyway, because of editing/writing, and my mid-placement review this morning (another stressor ha!), and Mr. J’s birthday, I wasn’t sure if I would have to re-schedule p90x day two (yup p90x day one done yesterday!).

I probably could have done more work today if I hadn’t worked out, but hey, I want to make it a priority again.

>> So day one, Core Synergistics, it was okay.  And today, day TWO, done!  Cardio X, also ok.  I would have liked more cardio, for longer (only 14mins vigorous), but I am still sweaty!

I am still not monitoring my intake, but I have decided that beginning November, it will be official – I am gonna bring it(!)  [p90x style]
