I didn’t have many goals for October… it has been a difficult month or so… and fitness certainly took a back seat.  Similar to the struggles I experienced in September.  But in the spirit of learning, how did I go?  So as usual here is an + overview of my plan, and = how I measured up.

+ Weekly Step is a must   = Only made it to one step class!  But I did other exercises on my regular step day over the month.
+ Weekly cardio too          = I exercised at least weekly, does that count?  I wouldn’t really have called it solid cardio though….
+ Weekly Shred                   =Yeah, not so much.

It’s pretty clear that I either didn’t prioritise exercise, OR I got over-excited about it.  First ripped in 30, c25k, then p90x…so I was a bit all over the place during October.

See that last week of consistency though?  Thanks go to p90x+ and p90x.

Quite happy to see that my cals burned remained pretty high… even when I didn’t exercise…  Thanks muscles :)

Really nothing very exciting going on around here lately!

I was supposed to be working extra hard all weekend, thesis deadline omg(!), but there has been a fair amount of procrastination going on…  Mainly in the form of research – fitness/exercise/weight loss, you name it.  It doesn’t take much for me to get distracted.

Plus, the more I neglect exercise, the more I look for ‘the answer’.  The simplest ‘answer’ is of course, more activity, less food.

It was only last week that Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 was my new plan for greatness, I mean, fitness …  ;)

But then, I came across P90x.  Get ripped in 90 days, sure, I’d love to.  Three phases, variations in workouts and sequences, a nutrition plan, the ability to tailor the 90 days to a particular goal – sounds pretty good, right?

Has anyone tried P90x?  Any thoughts/recommendations/warnings?

Yep, I was sore yesterday.  Crazy sore, and still pretty achey today.  My butt and legs especially.

But, after my motivation kick on Wednesday, I didn’t want to have more than one day off -  I want to get back into the swing of things, sooner rather than later  -
So today, Ripped in 30 again  :)

I have to say, I find Jillian Michaels’ lack of activity in the video pretty de-motivating.  Plus, the girl who is doing the hardest moves – isn’t actually working that hard(!)  I much prefer the ladies in 30 Day Shred.

I cannot deny, (although I dearly loved the 30 Day Shred!), I was clearly ready for something more.  Routine is not good for fitness.

I am feeling excited, and impatient, to get stuck in for the 30 days, and see some results.  Although I am not sure what I will want to do when my thesis is finished -  As I will have more time on my hands for exercise, and will hopefully be able to get to the gym.  Plus I missed this months measurements :(   and I would love to do a before/after review.

Anyway, it is pretty clear that I am procrastinating(!)

So, after a week off exercise, well actually 2 weeks at reduced exercise…     I got the bug again today.

I don’t know if it was the 9hrs of sleep last night;  The extension I was granted for my thesis;  The realisation that my cruise holiday is only 2 months away;  Or perhaps that my body knows that enough is enough (overeating much?).

I want to complete, as soon as possible, but not at the detriment of my body.  Plus pass/fail generally means = chill the f*** out.  Not that telling myself that has really changed anything(!)  ;)

So, despite the stress, I gave week 1 of Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30 DVD.  I was pretty surprised, the cardio was intense.  Amazing how quickly you adjust to routine, I am quite happy doing 30 Day Shred Level 3 now, but level 1 for Ripped?  It was tough.

Anyway, back to the point of this post – motivation.  Today, I had a heap of it.  Editing my goals, changing up my calendar.  Yep, I can totally exercise every day.  Why not see what I can achieve – really commit to Ripped in 30.  30 days straight, totally doable!  Ha!

Doesn’t take much for my what I ‘want’ to do, to overwhelm what I will realistically “do”.  Still, I don’t like to throw it away… you never know, right.  I could shock myself and actually get to where I want to be(!)  Not all that realistic with 6 years of study coming to an end over the next month.  Maybe next month…

But still, I hope.  I am going to take it one day at a time.  And hopefully find some motivation for my thesis, — the quicker it’s done the sooner I can work toward the goals that I am actually interested in(!)

Okay, so I don’t want to add any extra pressure over the next few weeks, as I will certainly have enough going on(!).  I have kinda taken the last week off.  But I want to make some goals, so I have something to aim for, and don’t totally fall off the wagon  ;)

And so,

+ Weekly Step is a must
+ Weekly cardio too
+ Weekly Shred

I also got the new, (well not all that new now), Jillian Michaels DVD “Ripped in 30″.  I am hoping that this will be extra motivation to workout at home between writing.  I love Shred, but certainly ready for something new.

So not much there, but hopefully I can maintain that.

Very dodgy picture, but that is what I spent this morning looking at!  Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred (level 1).  Because I still(!) had not rang the gym to confirm re-starting my membership, and because I had plans to do lots of work today, I decided to work it at home!

Quite difficult when sharing let me tell you.  I would have been up and getting my sweat on well before 9, but one of my housemates didn’t leave till after, and I am a tad shy about these things ;)    But I persevered, and now feel good for getting back into it.  Slowly, but surely I will do this!

I have now rang my gym, and I plan to suck it up and go tomorrow!  Hello scary gym, goodbye 2+ month break from exercise!

Focusing on healthy eats and upping my water intake for the rest of today.

Welcome back, motivation  :)
